The SPCA Holding Center serves as the entrance point for all pets coming into the SPCA of Wake County and accepts animals by appointment only. As of July 1, 2010, the SPCA Holding Center began operating as a no-kill shelter with an Adoption Guarantee program.
If you have a stray pet or one that you want to give up, please read our intake policy first. After reviewing our intake policy, if you are interested in working with us to solve your situation or if you would like your pet evaluated for our Adoption Guarantee program, please make an appointment by calling 919-772-3203. Our admissions process is by appointment only. If you need to return a pet adopted from the SPCA of Wake County, please visit this link for additional assistance.
Otherwise, as of July 1, 2010, all stray and owner-surrendered animals are being taken to the municipal shelter, the Wake County Animal Center, located at 820 Beacon Lake Drive in Raleigh, 919-212-PETS.
