In order to help us best serve the community, we have developed some guidelines for scheduling a tour or program with the SPCA of Wake County. If you are interested in having one of our humane education staff present to your group, please review these guidelines and give us a call to schedule.
Group tours
Group tours of the SPCA Curtis Dail Pet Adoption Center are available to residents of all ages in Wake County. They are a great opportunity to become familiar with the work of the SPCA of Wake County.
- Tours are offered Monday, 1pm-5pm; Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, 11am-6pm; Monday evenings upon request; and the first Saturday of the month, 11am-4pm, upon request.
- We prefer that group tours be scheduled 2-4 weeks in advance.
- Groups must consist of 20 people or less (this includes chaperones).
- The minimum age for groups is 5 years old.
- All groups under 18 must include adult chaperones. It is preferred that groups of children ages 5-12 include one adult chaperone for every 5 children and that teens ages 13-18 include one adult chaperone for every 8 teens.
- Tours are provided free of charge; however, monetary and in-kind donations are always appreciated. Click here for the SPCA Wish List of needed items.
- Tours last from 45 minutes to an hour.
- Tours include supervised visitation with some shelter animals.
- Group chaperones must make appropriate arrangements for individuals with allergies.

Programs
The SPCA of Wake County provides dynamic programs for residents of all ages in Wake County on issues relating to responsible pet ownership. Let the SPCA come to you!
- Programs are provided Monday-Friday, preferably between 8am and 5pm, but accommodations can be made for requests outside this time.
- We prefer that programs be scheduled 2-4 weeks in advance.
- Programs for individuals under 18 are intended to be interactive; therefore, groups of 30 or less are preferred. However, larger groups can be accommodated if necessary.
- Programs are an appropriate alternative for preschool students.
- Programs are provided free of charge; however, monetary and in-kind donations are always appreciated. Click here for the SPCA Wish List of needed items.
- Most programs last for 45 minutes.
- Programs can include an animal ambassador if approved by the host group. Host groups must make appropriate arrangements for individuals with allergies.
